The primary purpose of the compressor in a water dispenser is to cool the water stored in the dispenser's reservoir. This cooling process is essential for providing refreshing, chilled water on demand. The compressor works by compressing a refrigerant gas, typically Freon or a similar coolant, to increase its pressure and temperature.
As the compressed refrigerant moves through the system, it releases heat through a condenser coil located outside the water dispenser. This heat exchange causes the refrigerant to condense into a high-pressure liquid state. The liquid refrigerant then flows into an expansion valve, where its pressure is reduced, causing it to evaporate into a low-pressure gas.
During this phase change from liquid to gas, the refrigerant absorbs heat from the surrounding environment, including the water in the reservoir. This heat absorption cools the water, lowering its temperature to the desired level. The cooled water is then dispensed through the faucet for consumption.
